Sensory sensitive movie is planned
NILES
The Autism Society of Ohio, Mahoning Valley office, is teaming with Encore Cinema at the Great East Plaza to offer a sensory sensitive movie at 12:45 p.m. Friday. Families can view “How to Train Your Dragon” in an accepting environment.
Supports will include auditorium lights not completely dimmed; sound turned down; discounted admission rates; audience members can take blankets, pillows and snacks; and getting up, dancing, walking, shouting and singing are all welcome.
Career dreams to be display topic

From noon to 6 p.m. Aug. 16, children visiting the Southern Park Mall can explore their career dreams while enjoying fun, interactive games at PNC’s Mobile Learning Adventure, a traveling exhibit highlighting the importance of early education.
The “When I Grow Up” station encourages kids to dress up as different professionals and have their picture superimposed on a career-related background.
Other activities under the two bright orange tents include two touch-screen kiosks and the “Making Choices” activity board to help children learn about “wants” vs. “needs.”
The exhibit is free and open to the public in the JC Penney concourse, 7401 Market St.
Library will host family event
SALEM
Salem Public Library, 821 E. State St., will host a family friendly event from 3 to 6 p.m. Aug. 9.
Festivities will include; face painting, story times, balloons, crafts and a visit from story book character Pete the Cat.
