Crosscutters slice Scrappers

WILLIAMSPORT, PA.

Four Williamsport pitchers combined to limit to the Mahoning Valley Scrappers to a single run in Thursday’s New York-Penn League game at Bowman Stadium.

Feliberto Sanchez earned his second win of the season in the Crosscutters’ 5-1 victory.

Sanchez (2-4) limited the Scrappers to five hits and one run. He walked two and struck out two.

Relievers Edubray Ramos, Manny Martinez and Jesen Therrien shut down the Scrappers’ bats in the final four innings, allowing no hits.

Juan Santana (0-5) took the loss for the Scrappers (16-24), giving up two runs in the five innings he pitched.

Reliever Anthony Vizcaya was rocked for three runs in his three innings of relief.

Josh McAdam’s triple scored Leo Castillo to give the Scrappers a 1-0 lead in the second inning.

The Crosscutters (21-19) went ahead 2-1 in the third inning as Aaron Brown contributed a RBI double.

Williamsport added three runs in the eighth inning as Jiandido Tromp and Cord Sandberg tripled.
