Ohio air base ranked highly by Air Force newspaper

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — A newspaper serving U.S. Air Force personnel has ranked Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton as one of the best places in the country to be stationed.

The base, which is Ohio’s largest single-site employer, tied as the top Air Force base to be stationed among 68 bases in the U.S. That’s according to a survey by the weekly Air Force Times newspaper, which made the rankings based on a dozen categories.

Wright-Patterson tied for the top spot with Scott Air Force Base, Illinois.

The Dayton Daily News reports the rankings took into account factors including school quality, cost of living, housing costs and size of the community.

Ranked the lowest in the survey was Los Angeles Air Force Base in California.
