A city man pulled over on the East Side on Saturday for having no front license plate gave police a hard time, reports said.

Reports said an officer spotted a car driven by 37-year-old Seth Saunders at Stewart Avenue and Lansdowne Boulevard about 6 p.m. and the officer tried to pull it over because he did not have a front license plate.

Reports said Saunders stopped in the middle of the intersection at Stewart and Stiles avenues and got out of the car with a medium-sized dog on a leash and disobeyed officers’ commands to get back into the car.

Reports said Saunders got back inside the car after police said if he did, they would tell him why they pulled him over. But once inside his car, he refused to open the door or roll down his window, reports said. Instead, he called his mother, who arrived a few minutes later, reports said.

Reports said that after his mother arrived, police managed to get a passenger door open. His mother took the dog but Saunders would not get out of the car and went limp as officers dragged him out, according to reports. He refused to allow himself to be handcuffed, but police finally managed to got his hands cuffed behind his back, reports said.

However, Saunders refused to get inside a cruiser and had to be picked up and put inside. He was taken to the Mahoning County jail on charges of resisting arrest, obstruction of official business and driving under suspension.
