An East Side man is in the Mahoning County jail on $50,000 bail after police said he fired a shot during an argument Saturday morning at his home.

Havert Minor, 31, was arraigned in municipal court before Visiting Judge Barbara Watson on Monday on a charge of felonious assault.

Reports said police were called to a home in the first block of North Truesdale Avenue about 11:40 a.m. Saturday. A woman there said Minor had argued with her, fired a shot into a sidewalk in the back of their home and threatened to kill her, reports said.

When officers handcuffed Minor, he told them he had broken the gun into several pieces and thrown it into his yard and an adjoining yard, reports said.

Officers searched and found pieces of a 9mm semiautomatic handgun, including a loaded magazine. Police collected the parts and also had Minor take a gunshot-residue test, reports said.

The woman, who is Minor’s wife, said the two were arguing over a woman who had called his phone, reports said.
