Historical society is moving archives
YOUNGSTOWN
The Mahoning Valley Historical Society’s archival library will close to the public July 28 in preparation to move the collection from the Wick Avenue site to the Tyler Mahoning Valley History Center, downtown.
The archives are projected to reopen at the History Center (325 W. Federal St.) in early November.
The move will provide patrons with a larger reference room and additional amenities geared toward making research easier and more efficient.
Expanded facilities will allow for storage of the entire archival collection under one roof, allowing easier access to processed and unprocessed collections for patrons and staff.
The collection will be unavailable during the move, limiting the ability to answer reference questions and fulfill imaging requests. Research inquiries should be emailed to archives@mahoninghistory.org or mailed to MVHS Archives, 648 Wick Ave., Youngstown, OH 44502.
