Golf outing will help make kids count

The fourth annual Making Kids Count Golf Outing is scheduled for Aug. 16 at Mill Creek Golf Course, 1 W. Golf Drive.

Registration will begin at 11 a.m., and lunch will be served from 11 to noon. Play will begin with a shotgun start at noon.

The cost of the outing is $75 per golfer or $300 per foursome. The price includes 18 holes with cart, lunch and dinner, and all beverages, including beer. Tickets for dinner only cost $25.

The winning foursome will have their entry fees refunded and will win prizes valued at $100 per golfer. Other contests will be closest to the pin, longest drive and a chance auction.

Making Kids Count is a nonprofit organization dedicated to making kids feel special. It has three core areas: school support, little extras, and parental assistance and special events.

Among other things, it hosts birthday parties for children in shelters, provides gifts for patients at Akron Children’s Hospital, gives comfort kits to children placed in foster care and helps local schools with volunteers, a diaper bank and more.
