Race will fund Mooney scholarships

An 8-kilometer (4.8-mile) race in memory of Caitlin Yager, who died at age 19 in a Dec. 26, 2013, auto accident, will take place at 9 a.m. July 26, beginning and ending at Canfield High School, 100 Cardinal Drive.
The 8K “Run for Caitlin” race entry fee is $25, with a team rate of $20 per runner for groups of five to seven runners.
There also will be a 3K (1.8-mile) run walk/run with a $15 entry fee.
All proceeds will benefit Run for Caitlin Inc., a nonprofit Ohio corporation, which will award scholarships to students planning to attend Cardinal Mooney High School, from which Yager graduated.
Yager was killed in a 12:30 a.m. head-on crash on ice-covered U.S. Route 20 in Wakeman Township.
At the time of her death, Yager was a student at Marietta College, where she was majoring in history and land management and minoring in religion and leadership studies and competed in cross-country and track.
She had planned to go to law school.
