GREEN

The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Canfield Post is investigating a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of state Routes 165 and 45 that sent two people to area hospitals Wednesday morning.

At 7:20 a.m., a Ford F250 pickup truck traveling eastbound on Route 165 failed to stop at the stop sign and was struck by a Dodge Neon traveling northbound on Route 45.

The driver of the Neon, a man in his early 40s, was flown by medical helicopter to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown and was in serious but stable condition, while the driver of the pickup truck, a man in his early 20s, had minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Salem Regional Medical Center, said patrol spokesman Larry Sprockett. Their names were not released.

Sprockett added that traffic on Route 165 was tied up for a short while, and the patrol was at the scene for about two hours.
