MYCAP to lose control of Head Start

Staff report

YOUNGSTOWN

The Mahoning Youngs-town Community Action Partnership will lose control over running the local Head Start program, according to 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner.

Head Start is the largest program administered by MYCAP, which receives $7 million annually in state funding for it.

The agency is losing Head Start because it also will lose the Child and Adult Care Food Program needed to provide Head Start services, according to WFMJ.

Head Start will continue to operate, but it isn’t known what agency will run the program.
