U.S. Rep. Bill Johnson files petitions for re-election


U.S. Rep. Bill Johnson of Marietta, R-6th, filed nominating petitions today seeking a third two-year term in Congress.

Johnson’s petitions include signatures from all 18 counties, including Columbiana and Mahoning, in the 6th District.

Former state Rep. Jennifer Garrison, a Democrat, also filed nominating petitions today for the 6th Congressional District race.

Garrison of Marietta, an attorney who spent six years in the Ohio House, was recruited by national Democrats to run for this seat.

Wednesday is the filing deadline for candidates running in the May 6 primary.
