Authorities say a K-9 stabbed by a man being arrested on fugitive warrants has died.
The 8-year-old police dog, named Rocco, was injured Tuesday night when police arrested 21-year-old John Lewis Rush. Rush was one of Allegheny County’s most wanted fugitives because of warrants for probation violations and failing to register as a sex offender. Rocco died Thursday evening.
Police say Rush was arrested about 10:30 p.m. after he fought and got away from a sheriff’s deputy.
Police apprehended Rush, but not before they say he stabbed the dog in the back.
