UPDATE: Pavlik collapses in court, taken to St. E's


Kelly Pavlik was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Boardman after he had an apparent seizure on his way into the courtroom in Canfield Friday morning.

The former middleweight boxing champion made a grunting noise and then collapsed, according to Vindicator reporter Kalea Hall who saw Pavlik on the floor and shaking.

Mahoning County Sheriff's deputies came to his aid.

He was told, "Breathe, Kelly, breathe."

He is now being attended to by emergency personnel.

Judge Scott Hunter asked the media to leave the courtroom for Pavlik to be attended to.

He was to appear in court this morning for an pretrial on a theft charge. His pretrial will be continued again.

This was the third attempt at a pretrial for the 31-year-old former boxing champion. Two others were continued.

A cab driver accused Pavlik of failing to pay a $25 cab fare in the early morning hours of Sept. 18 after he was taken to his Canfield home from a bar on South Meridian Road.
