Man shot after purse-snatching

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Police say a man was shot and critically injured after he pursued a robber who had just snatched his girlfriend’s purse in north Philadelphia.

Officials said the 24-year-old man and 23-year-old woman were leaving their apartment when a man approached, grabbed the purse and fled.

Police said the man chased the robber, who turned and shot the victim in the chest. He was taken to Temple University Hospital and listed in critical but stable condition.

Investigators said the robber took $300 and later dropped the purse, which was recovered.
