Mahoning County man indicted on rape charges

YOUNGSTOWN — A Mahoning County grand jury indicted a Mona Lane man for the rape of a girl under 13 for four years and a woman for allowing the purported sex crimes to happen.

Michael Lewis, 50, faces 10 counts of rape, each count carrying a maximum sentence of life in prison.

Alandra Lewis, 35, also of Mona Lane, faces a count of endangering children. They were indicted Thursday.

Warrants have been issued for both but they have yet to be taken into custody, according to records at the sheriff’s office.

An indictment said the rapes began in October 2009 when the girl was 12 and continued until October 2013.

The indictment also said Michael Lewis made the girl submit under force or threat of force.

The indictment said Alandra Lewis was either a parent or guardian of the child and failed in her duty to protect the child by allowing the attacks by Michael Lewis to occur.
