A 34-year-old city man told police he was bound with duct tape inside a South Side home where he was house-sitting for a friend late Wednesday afternoon.

The man said he was at a home in the 3400 block of Lenox Avenue about 5:15 p.m. and sitting on a couch when he heard someone kick the door open and a short man dressed in black carrying a revolver came in.

The intruder told the man he was looking for something and the victim said he had no idea where anything was, reports said.

Reports said the intruder made the man lie down on the floor, and bound his hands and ankles with duct tape before taking two televisions and smashing the phone in the house before fleeing.

The man managed to free himself, then woke up a friend who was in the basement sleeping, and they were able to alert police, reports said.

Officers took pictures of the duct tape and broken door for evidence.
