Driver killed

NEW CASTLE, PA.

A West Pittsburg woman, Heidi Lynn Holland, 27, was killed when she lost control of her car at 8:20 a.m. Wednesday and struck a guard rail along state Route 18 at Halltown Road in North Beaver Township in Lawrence County.

Pennsylvania State Police reported that Holland’s car went off the road on the west side, struck a guard rail at a high rate of speed and spun numerous times before stopping along the east berm on top of the guard rail.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner. Police said she was not wearing a seat belt.

Campbell break-in

CAMPBELL

City police are investigating a report of breaking and entering — the second in a little more than a week — at Iron City Wood Products, a pallet management and recycling facility at 3125 Wilson Ave.

At 1:10 p.m. Tuesday, Iron City’s office manager contacted police after noticing the building’s basement had been broken into. Several cement blocks on the building’s rear were damaged, and entry was gained that way.

The office manager told police she didn’t yet know what had been taken from the business, but that employee and payroll records had been gone through.

In addition, the hole in the cement blocks caused pipes in the building to freeze and break.

On Jan. 20, the office manager reported a candy and soda vending machine in the building had been heavily damaged and its contents taken. She alerted police after finding the window of the men’s restroom open.
