OSHP investigating fatal accident in Columbiana County

HANOVERTON — A 23-year-old Lisbon man was killed early this morning when the vehicle he was driving traveled off state Route 172, struck a ditch and a tree in Hanover Township.

A representative of the Columbiana County Coroner’s office pronounced John W. Guappone dead at the scene.

The vehicle Guappone was driving was traveling east on Route 172 at 12:41 a.m. when it went off the right edge of the road and onto the berm, according to a press release from the Lisbon Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. It then traveled back across the road, striking a ditch and a tree.

The patrol continues to investigate. Hanover Township Fire Department assisted at the scene.
