A public meeting to discuss plans to redevelop the U.S. 422 corridor is set for 6:30 p.m. Feb. 11 at St. Anthony Parish Social Hall, 1125 Turin Ave. in Youngstown.
The U.S. Route 422 corridor selected for study and redevelopment encompasses 3,500 acres, 220 businesses and 8,500 residents. It stretches from Liberty Street in Girard, down to state Route 193 [Belmont Avenue] in Liberty, over to Meridian Road and across to state Route 711 in Youngstown.
The initial phase of the process included input from hundreds of people and public meetings, focus groups and interviews with stakeholders and businesses along the corridor to provide feedback on priorities, challenges, and opportunities to be addressed in the plan.
The strategies based on that phase will be presented at the public meeting by Interface Studios, an urban design and planning firm hired for $150,000 to conduct the study.
The public is asked to provide feedback to the proposed strategies to put a final plan in place.
The collaborative planning process is being led by the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber, Trumbull County Planning Commission and the Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp.
