Students compete in TCESC’s annual Prep Bowl

The Trumbull County Educational Service Center recently completed its annual Junior High Prep Bowl competition.

The academic competition engaged students in various grade levels in a contest to answer questions from all areas of study. The competition took place at the Trumbull Career & Technical Center over two evenings.

Howland Middle School won the junior-high competition. Members of the team were: Isaac Mattern, Michael Sturdevant, Moira Armstrong and Elias Kondolios. Alternate members of the team were: Tia Sorrels and Nathan Nadler. Holly Miller is the coach.

Mathews Junior High School was the runner-up for the junior-high competition. Members of the team were: Evan Bisel, Miranda Marinkovich, Carlie Pratt, McKenzie O’Brien, Gabe Canter and Brendan Mc-Evoy. Alternates were Haley Ryznar, Nick Spano, Dillon Canter and Daniel Canter. Gabriele Calior coached the team.

The Trumbull County Educational Service Center provides educational leadership and instruction in the areas of school improvement, special education and STEM education.

The center employs more than 200 teachers, therapists, psychologists, educational assistants and other specialists who work directly with approximately 3,500 students in 20 school districts.

The center also conducts professional growth seminars for approximately 2,000 teachers each year.
