$10K donated to animal welfare

YOUNGSTOWN

Home Savings Charitable Foundation has donated $10,000 to the Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County. The funds will be used to support the Animal Welfare League’s building campaign for the new shelter in Vienna.

“The new shelter will allow us to provide the environment that promotes and protects the health and happiness of the animals,” said Nancy Jastatt-Juergens, director of philanthropic services at the Animal Welfare League. “It will allow us to save more animals.”

The plan for the new shelter includes adoption rooms, areas for medical care, quarantine, training and isolation and maternity wards. The new shelter will be the first of its kind in the nation because it will include an accredited veterinary technician program in partnership with Kent State University, league officials said.
