LAKE MILTON

The Olde Dutch Mill Golf Course was the location of the 5th Annual Duck Race on Jan. 1.

The event raised money for local charities and organizations as friends and families celebrated the new year. Fans negotiated a swift flowing river and more than 6 inches of snow.

In the first race, the Halliday’s Winery Duck defeated the Olde Dutch Mill Duck for the second year in a row. Ron Birchak, owner of both businesses, had Andrea Perkovich design the Olde Dutch Mill Duck, hoping to dethrone the winery duck.

In the Junior Division, Justin Lemmon was the champion with his “Duck Dynasty” inspired duck. Bob Sorber was three-time champion of the adult division with his entry called FUBB. The last event was the Rubber Duck Division with more than 250 ducks competing. The duck of Tom and Beans won the race by a bill. Tami and Dallas Young of Newton Falls earned second place, and third place went to Dale Graham.

This year the event earned almost $500 for the charities.
