Boardman police arrest woman on theft charge
BOARDMAN — Boardman police arrested an 18-year-old woman from Stow after she was accused of robbery and theft from the Southern Park Mall on Saturday.
Raelyn Wierzchowski is in the Mahoning County Jail facing a second-degree felony robbery charge and a first-degree Misdemeanor theft charge.
Police were called to the mall just after 2 p.m. Saturday on the report of a female fighting with security.
The head of security for the mall told police Wierzchowski stole a Pittsburgh Penguins sweater from Touchdown Gifts in the mall. She was followed by security after she left the store.
When approached by security, she bit the head of security in the chest, according to a police report.
Police searched her and obtained a Michael Kor’s keychain from Macy’s.
She admitted to taking the items after she was placed under arrest.
Wierzchiwski was also given a criminal trespass warning for the Southern Park Mall.
A date for her first court appearance has not been set.
