Guardian Angels of Ohio, a volunteer guardianship program of Trumbull County Probate Court, is looking for new volunteers. Those interested receive training to become advocates who reach out as friends to seniors who may need a friendly phone call, a visit in a nursing home or a visit at home. Angels also are involved in planning special events for seniors such as health fairs and Make a Difference Day projects. Park Vista of Youngstown, in partnership with Youngstown Comfort Keepers, will host A Matter of Balance beginning from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 6 in the Park Vista Gathering Room, 1216 Fifth Ave. A Matter of Balance is a program designed to manage falls and concerns about falls, and increase activity levels for older adults. Licensed facilitators from Youngstown Comfort Keepers will lead attendees through the program and help them to view falls as controllable, set goals for increasing activity, make changes to reduce fall risks at home and exercise to increase strength and balance.
