Two brothers accused in a robbery-shooting that left a father and his two children dead have been indicted on aggravated murder charges in Northeast Ohio.

Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh says 22-year-old Michael Hendon and 30-year-old Eric Hendon also were indicted Friday on charges of attempted murder, aggravated robbery and felonious assault in the Barberton slayings. The Akron brothers could receive the death penalty if convicted of aggravated murder.

Their attorney did not immediately return a call to his office Friday.

The brothers were arrested Jan. 3 after 42-year-old John Kohler died at an Akron hospital. Authorities said Kohler’s children — 18-year-old Ashley Carpenter and 14-year-old David Kohler-Carpenter — died in the shootings at their father’s home. John Kohler’s girlfriend also was shot, but is recovering.
