New Monarch earns appointment of Grotto

YOUNGSTOWN
George E. Brainard is the newly elected monarch of Aut Mori Grotto, Mystic Order of Veiled Prophets of the Enchanted Realm, who was recently installed in an open ceremony at Aut Mori Grotto Hall, 563 N. Belle Vista Ave.
Brainard is a member of Argus Lodge, Wick Lodge and Poland Lodge, where he served as master of each.
He also is a member of Scottish Rite Masonry, chapter, council and commandery of the York Rite Masonic Bodies, Hi-Twelve Club and the 24th Masonic Lodge Education Officer. He is a U.S. Army veteran and is a member of the Grotto Veterans Unit.
Brainard retired as a police officer with the Youngstown Police Department. He and his wife, Ruby, reside in Austintown. They have seven children and 14 grandchildren.
Associate officers appointed and installed were PM Ed Ross, chief justice; PM Max Pokorski, master of ceremonies; PM R. Sean Craig, treasurer; Ron Craig, secretary; PM Gary Farrant, venerable prophet; PGM Ed Pierre Shawver, chaplain; PM Gary Lippert, marshal; and PM Glenn McClain and J.J. Losasso, sentinels.
Charles Graham, who was appointed captain of the guard, will be installed at a later date.
Members of the board of governors are PM Alan Boles, PM George McClelland and PM Carmen Pompeii.
The Grotto is an international organization of Master Masons who contribute to charities for cerebral palsy and dentistry for physically challenged children through age 17.
Among other organizations it supports Akron Children’s Hospital, Salvation Army, AASR Children’s Dyslexia Center and the Sojourner House.
The local chapter meets the first Wednesday of each month at the Grotto Hall.
