Cabin Fever Fest, chili cook-off Saturday
Staff report
YOUNGSTOWN
Mill Creek MetroParks’ Police and Recreation departments will have a Cabin Fever Fest and Chili Cook-Off on Saturday starting at noon at Wick Recreation Area, 1861 McCollum Road.
Activities will include outdoor games and sled riding on Sled Hill throughout the event, a snow-sculpting competition from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. and the Chili Cook-Off and children’s crafts inside the recreation area’s Warming House at noon. Outdoor activities will be weather dependent.
Also, the MetroParks Police Department will offer a child identification program at noon inside the Warming House as a free community service, giving children the opportunity to receive an individual ChildPrint ID Kit with fingerprinting and other safety features to take home.
Judging for the Chili Cook-Off will take place about 1:30 p.m. The public will be able to taste the chili and select the “spiciest, most colorful and overall best chili,” according to a park press release.
Aspiring and amateur chefs can enter the Chili Cook-Off for $10. Details, rules and contest registration are available at www.millcreekmetroparks.org or by calling Ford Nature Center at 330-740-7107.
Snow-sculpture judging will take place shortly after the Chili Cook-Off winners have been decided.
