Officer transfers

Sgt. Vincent B. Shirey of the Ohio State Highway Patrol Training Academy, and a 2000 graduate of Girard High School, has transferred to the patrol’s Public Affairs Unit in which he will serve as a patrol spokesman. He will work in conjunction with S/Lt. Anne Ralston, unit commander.

Shirey began his patrol career in November 2001 as a cadet dispatcher assigned to the Warren Post in Southington. He earned his commission in February 2003 and was assigned to the West Jefferson Post.

In 2011, he transferred to the Office of Personnel, Recruitment. In April 2013, he was promoted to the rank of sergeant and transferred to his assignment at the training academy.

HONORS

Golden Wheat Award

The Trumbull County Farm Bureau recently presented five of its members with the President’s Golden Wheat Award.

Recipients were Glenn and Sandee Smith of Mecca, who both served as county presidents, membership chairman and woman, and voting delegates to the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation annual meeting; Paul Wilde of Gustavus, who has been president, on the membership committee and as a voting delegate to the OFBF annual meeting; Paul Aaron of Fowler, who served recently as the food and animal issues action team leader, membership, scholarship, audit and budget committees and has served as a delegate to the OFBF annual meeting; and Milton Eddie of Champion, who has served as the communications action team leader and membership committee chairman.

The award was presented by President Mark Bockelman of Fowler, honoring farm bureau members that have shown extraordinary service, commitment and dedication to achieving bureau goals and the membership campaign.
