3 sisters injured in Campbell assault

A 30-year-old Campbell woman is in the Mahoning County jail facing two felonious assault charges in the stabbing of two of her sisters.

Jessica Gomez will be arraigned at 9 a.m. Tuesday in Campbell Municipal Court.

The two sisters, as well as Gomez, had injuries, police said.

Police were called at 11:25 p.m. Friday to a home on Blackburn Street by one of Gomez’s sisters who said she was stabbed. When police arrived, they found the house, where Gomez resides, in “shambles with trash, clothing and chairs thrown all throughout” the kitchen and blood on the wall and floor, according to a police report.

Blood was also found in the living room, but officers didn’t find anyone in the house, the report states.

Officers received a call from paramedics, who were treating one of Gomez’s sisters for stab wounds — two to her forehead, one to her right chin and another to her right elbow, the report states. The woman was unconscious.

The woman, who lives in Campbell, was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown for treatment.

Another sister of Gomez — this sister also lives in Campbell — also went to the same hospital for a knife wound to her right leg.

Their conditions weren’t known as of late Saturday.

At 12:26 a.m. Saturday, police returned to the Blackburn Street residence, found Gomez and placed her under arrest.

Gomez told police several times that the two sisters “came in and jumped me. I was defending myself,” according to the report.

Gomez had bruising to the left side of her body — eye, left foot, wrist, forearm, shoulder and bicep — and to her right forearm and bicep. She also had lacerations to her right leg, right upper lip and left pinky, according to the police report.
