Toastmasters plans speech contest
POLAND
Executive 408 of Toastmasters Youngstown will host its International Speech and Evaluation Club contest from 6:45 to 8:45 p.m. Monday at Shepherd Of The Valley, 301 W. Western Reserve Road.
The competition is free and open to the public.
For the international speech contest, each contestant presents to the audience a five-to-seven-minute speech that was prepared ahead of time. Judges will vote on the contestants’ speech development and effectiveness.
In the evaluation contest, each contestant’s critical thinking and speaking skills will be assessed. The contestant has five minutes to prepare a two-to-three minute evaluation to present to a volunteer speaker. The performance will be judged on analytical quality, recommendations, technique and summation.
First-place winners will represent the club at the area level and potentially in contests at the division and district levels.
Members and contestants of Executive 408 will be available before and after the contest to answer questions.
