Lil Baby Cakes is new bakery in town

Alexa Diana has always loved to bake and now she can share her sweet creations with the Canfield community through her new bakery, Lil Baby Cakes.
“My mom always baked and I just followed her around the kitchen. I liked to try different things in my baking and it has led to this,” Diana said.
Lil Baby Cakes is Diana’s first bakery and she is completely self-taught.
“I am self-taught. If you can teach yourself, you can do your own thing and do fun stuff. You can experiment with all kinds of different flavors. My favorite part is coming up with new cupcakes,” Diana said.
Diana has been on the baking scene for some time, winning Best in Show, Fan Favorite, tied for first place in the Baby Cakes category and placed third in Best Display in the 2013 The Sweet Life Cupcake Competition at the B&O Station.
“The Sweet Life Cupcake Competition was my first big competition. I was working out of my house and was competing against professionals with bakeries. It was a huge accomplishment for me,” Diana said.
According to Diana, Lil Baby Cakes is a family business.
“My entire family, including my mom, dad, aunts and grandparents on both sides, has been so supportive and a huge help. I get my baking ability from my mom and my artistic talent from my dad,” Diana said.
Diana’s parents, Debbie and Pat, also helped Alexa find the space for Lil Baby Cakes.
“My dad went to the space to buy an oven and ended up buying the whole bakery. Once I saw the space, I knew this was it and we had to do it,” Alexa said.
Diana also said the Canfield community has been very nice and welcoming.
“My new neighbors have stopped by to introduce themselves and welcome me. The Canfield Police Department stopped by to welcome me to the neighborhood and let me know they can be of service if I ever need them,” Diana said.
Lil Baby Cakes is located at 7 Lisbon St, the former Caf Dars site, and is open from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, with weekend hours to be announced.
“We are open now and we are planning an official grand opening around Valentine’s Day. Check our website, www.lbabycakes.com, for updates and more details,” Diana said.
