Trial date postponed for man accused of impersonating cop

BROOKFIELD — The trial for a former Boardman Township cop charged with impersonating a police officer has been postponed and a new hearing scheduled in Eastern District Court.

Atty. James Gentile, representing Stephen Kendall, 41, of Salem, received a continuance of the case from today to 9 a.m. Feb. 27. The February hearing date is a pretrial hearing, not a trial.

Kendall was charged May 13, 2012, after a Hartford Township police officer made a traffic stop on Kendall because of a purported stop-sign violation. The officer said Kendall indicated he was a Boardman police officer even though Kendall had been fired from his job with the Boardman Police Department in 2007.
