POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Boardman Township:

Jan. 17

Arrest: Authorities took into custody 21-year-old Joshua A. Donatelli at his Erskine Avenue residence. The Boardman man was wanted on warrants charging him with three counts of failure to appear in court.

Theft: A Lisbon woman noticed her $300 cellphone missing from a shopping cart at a Southern Park Mall store.

Child endangerment: Police were dispatched to a Market Street drugstore, where they reportedly found a 1-year-old child in a car unattended while her mother was in the store.

Theft: Three women stole 20 articles of children’s clothing valued at $500 from the J.C. Penney store in Southern Park Mall.

Breaking and entering: Someone entered a garage in the 100 block of Erskine Avenue, then removed two rim caps from a car.

Aggravated menacing: A worker for a Market Street barber shop alleged a fellow barber threatened to kill him during an argument related to a third employee.

Assault: A Massachusetts Avenue woman alleged her landlord grabbed her wrists and pushed the accuser backward during an argument.

Harassment: A Maple Avenue man said a Flint, Mich., man the accuser had communicated with online has been making unwanted calls.

Theft: Twenty compact discs, an electronic reading device and a global-positioning-system unit were removed from a car in the 2000 block of Wolosyn Circle.

Misuse of a credit card: After discovering her credit card missing at a Doral Drive big-box store, a Youngstown woman learned the card was used to make $220 worth of unauthorized charges.

Jan. 18

Truck theft: A 2001 Ford F-150 truck was stolen in the 100 block of Nevada Avenue.

Menacing: A Shadyside Drive woman said a former acquaintance showed up at her residence uninvited, persistently knocked on her door and made unwanted cellphone calls to her.

Theft: Nanette M. Thompson, 54, of Lincoln Avenue, Hubbard, was charged with stealing $150 worth of DVDs from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Criminal damaging: A motorist struck and destroyed a mailbox in the 800 block of Fairfield Drive.

Theft: Police at the Mahoning County jail booked 30-year-old Robert E. Hallas of Melbourne Avenue, Boardman, on a theft charge related to a Jan. 10 shoplifting situation at Kmart, 1209 Boardman-Poland Road.

Summons: A traffic stop in the 200 block of Ewing Road resulted in a summons charging 29-year-old David B. Mackey of Melbourne Avenue, Boardman with operating a vehicle impaired.

Theft: Tyler S. Pearce of Melbourne Avenue, Boardman was charged. Pearce, 27, was accused of stealing $191 worth of DVDs from Sam’s Club, 6361 South Ave.

Jan. 19

Damage: A truck with an attached snowplow damaged an outdoor table at Dunkin Donuts, 7635 Market St.

Harassment: The owner of a Boardman-Poland Road restaurant reported receiving a series of such calls, some of which contained racial slurs.

Theft: A man stole a $198, 32-inch TV from Walmart.

Burglary: To a home in the 4100 block of Arden Boulevard, from which $200 and numerous medications were stolen.

Theft: Authorities charged 53-year-old Elizabeth Cruz of Williamson Avenue, Youngstown, along with two city girls, 10 and 13, with stealing 15 pieces of jewelry and three cellphone accessories from Five Below, 411 Boardman-Poland Road, which also resulted in two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor against Cruz. Also arrested was Sheila Ramos, 31, of East Dewey Avenue, Youngstown, who was wanted on Beaver County, Pa., warrants charging five counts of theft and one of receiving stolen property.

Jan. 20

Theft: A man discovered 800 DVDs, a football jersey, a hooded sweatshirt and a driver’s license missing from his residence in the 6300 block of South Avenue.

Theft: A $350 sound-link air-play system was stolen from Target.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 800 block of Cook Avenue was found with a damaged rear passenger-side fender. The damage estimate was $1,000.

Theft: A man in his 30s stole a $160 laser from Spencer Gifts in the Southern Park Mall.

Attempted theft: A man tried to remove a $550 vacuum cleaner from Bed, Bath & Beyond, 550 Boardman-Poland Road.

Harassment: A Mayfield Drive woman said a caller claiming to represent Kent State University informed the accuser she needed to make up two credits to graduate, despite her having already graduated.

Theft: A Boardman Boulevard woman reported money stolen from her on two occasions that totaled $1,000.

Robbery: A Glenwood Avenue man told police a gunman got out of a vehicle as he walked in the 6300 block of Market Street, struck the victim in the head with the firearm and demanded money before driving away. The victim gave the robber his cellphone and money, a report showed.

Theft: Four people stole an undetermined quantity of clothing from Target, 417 Boardman-Poland Road.

Breaking and entering: Someone apparently kicked in the front door to a vacant home in the 1300 block of Shields Road, though nothing appeared to have been stolen.

Theft: Milena K. Mesin, 45, faced a theft charge. The Chicago woman was accused of failing to pay for $669 worth of services while staying at the Fairfield Inn, 7397 Tiffany Blvd.

Theft: A $359 electronic device was removed from a vehicle in the 6700 block of Lockwood Boulevard.

Counterfeit: A fake $20 bill was passed at Sam’s Club.

Theft: Three men in their 20s stole an $85 speaker set from Walmart.

Theft: Two women took 35 T-shirts and other items from Pink, a Southern Park Mall clothing store.

Jan. 21

Harassment: A Shields Road man said he’s received threatening and harassing text messages.
