Through Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV’s Adult Basic Education Program, adults in Western Pennsylvania have the opportunity to learn skills that will prepare them to pass the General Educational Development test and to reacquaint themselves with basic academic skills.

MIU IV courses focus on GED preparation, pre-employment testing and basic skills that increase employability.

Teachers are state certified, and the curriculum is targeted to teach skills that adults need to be successful in the 21st-century workforce.

Classes and materials are available to area residents free of charge.

“Not only do our state certified teachers focus on GED preparation,” said Tim Nesbit, MIU IV adult education program administrator. “But they also provide instruction to adults who have already earned a high school diploma that might be looking to brush up on basic skills to pass a pre-employment test or enhance their performance in a current job.”

According to Nesbit, learners receive personal attention in an atmosphere free of intimidation.

Interested adult learners can contact Nesbit at 724-458-6700, ext. 1212, with questions.
