The Columbiana Area Chamber of Commerce will host its Winter Business Showcase at Columbiana Buick Cadillac Chevrolet, 21 E. Railroad St., on Thursday from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Social Security Update Seminar

CANFIELD

Robert Fenn, a Social Security administrator and public-affairs specialist, will speak at the Mahoning Valley Accounting Society’s Social Security Update Seminar on Friday at A La Cart Catering, 429 Lisbon St.

Registration begins at 8 a.m., with the seminar to follow from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.

The cost is $15 for members and $20 for nonmembers. The event counts for two hours of tax-continuing professional education credits.

Natural-gas job fair

BUTLER, PA

Rock station 97.7 will host a natural-gas job fair at the General Butler Vagabond Center, 138 Whitestown Road, Lyndora, on Feb. 15.

The station is coordinating the job fair to expose companies within the oil and gas industry to the qualified workforce in western Pennsylvania.

The event, open to the public, will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

TEDx conference

YOUNGSTOWN

The Williamson College of Business Administration will host the inaugural TEDx-Youngstown conference on the campus of Youngstown State University on Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The event will bring together a variety of businesses, education centers and development organizations, and will focus on the theme of innovation.

TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together in small groups to discuss important issues.

Economic breakfast

The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber will host its Economic Forecast Breakfast, featuring keynote speaker Jay Williams, at 8 a.m. Feb. 6 at Mr. Anthony’s, 7440 South Ave.

Williams, who served as the mayor of Youngstown from 2006 to 2011, has been nominated to serve as head of the U.S. Economic Development Agency. He will discuss the economic expectations for the nation. The cost is $25 for members and $35 for nonmembers.

Historical Society to host fundraiser

YOUNGSTOWN

The Mahoning Valley Historical Society will host its second annual Cookie Table & Cocktails fundraiser Feb. 8 to raise money for new exhibits at the site of the event, the Tyler History Center.

The fundraiser will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. at 325 W. Federal St., downtown.

Tickets are $40 and can be reserved by calling the Historical Society at 330-743-2589.
