Antwan Baugh, 21, and Davone L. Owens, 18, both of 1185 Oak Street Southwest, were arraigned Friday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court on charges related to a Dec. 29 robbery on Iowa Avenue Northwest in which police say Baugh accidentally shot Owens.

Both were indicted Thursday by a Trumbull County grand jury.

Owens moved very slowly as he walked back to a seat in the courtrom of Judge Andrew Logan after his hearing and could barely speak. He had a tracheostomy tube in his neck and was allowed to remain free on $20,000 bond. He pleaded not guilty to one count of aggravated robbery.

Baugh, who was wearing jail clothes, pleaded not guilty to one count of aggravated robbery and four counts of felonious assault. His bond is $100,000.

Police say Baugh and Owens were attempting to rob a man standing outside a house, but during a tussle that ensued, Baugh shot Owens, who police later found in the front yard at 414 Penn Avenue with a gunshot wound.

No information was available on why there were five felonious-assault charges instead of one.
