BOARDMAN — Two Akron women were arrested by Boardman police on Wednesday after they were accused of having merchandise stolen from the Southern Park Mall.

Diamond Weems, 26, of East Waterford Court and Princess McGuire, 29, of Downing Place are charged with three counts of receiving stolen property and one count of possession of criminal tools. McGuire is also charged with failure to appear in Stark County.

Boardman police arrested Weems and McGuire after they stopped the vehicle they were in. Mall security believed the vehicle was involved in a series of thefts.

Police say they found numerous bags of suspected stolen clothing.

Just after 12 p.m. Wednesday, police were called to the mall for two shoplifters who fled in a brown van.

Police located the van on Market Street and initiated a traffic stop on Howard Avenue. Police found bags containing items from Children’s Place, Champs and Buckle.

Police also found marijuana on McGuire. She was given a misdemeanor citation for it.

Both McGuire and Weems were taken to the Mahoning County Jail.
