State auditor declares Columbiana County group's records inadequate
Staff report
COLUMBIANA
Auditor of State Dave Yost has declared the Columbiana County Drug Task Force’s records unauditable.
Yost said Tuesday the task force’s financial records are inadequate for the regular audit of records from Jan. 1, 2011, to Dec. 31, 2012.
In a letter to the task force, the auditor’s office provided a list of required records.
The task force must revise its financial records and provide the necessary information, the auditor’s office said.
A call to the task force was not returned Tuesday.
Failure to bring records to an auditable condition could result in legal action, including the state attorney general’s issuing a subpoena to task-force officials to explain the condition of the records.
The attorney general also could file suit to compel the officials to produce the required information.
The state auditor’s local government section is available to task-force officials to assist in bringing records to an auditable condition, the auditor’s office added.
