2 Pa. men sentenced

NEW CASTLE, Pa.

Two New Castle residents were sentenced for drug convictions in federal court in Pittsburgh.

Christopher Klingensmith, 39, was sentenced to 171/2 years in prison. James Cracraft, 39, was sentenced to 37 months, followed by three years’ supervised release, said U.S. Attorney David J. Hickton. Both were sentenced Friday.

Hickton said Klingensmith led a New Castle-area drug ring that distributed oxycodone from 2008 to 2011. Cracraft was a distributor, Hickton said.

Funds for camp

RAVENNA

A bipartisan Senate-House appropriations deal, if passed as expected this week, would bring $5.2 million for the Camp Ravenna Joint Military Training Center, said U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Avon.

The federal funds would be used to extend Camp Ravenna’s water and sewer lines.

“This infrastructure and utility funding is crucial to the growth of Camp Ravenna, which the Ohio National Guard plans to expand and develop as a major training site,” said Brown, who helped secure the funding.

“This is excellent news for the Camp Ravenna Joint Military Training Center. By developing its utility infrastructure, Camp Ravenna can grow and bring more jobs to Northeast Ohio,” Brown said.

Road to close

CALCUTTA

Beginning Tuesday, state Route 170 will be closed during daytime hours north of Calcutta in Columbiana County for tree-trimming work.

“Clearing overhead canopy from our roads improves our pavement longevity and increases motorists’ safety in the winter,” said Lloyd MacAdam, Ohio Department of Transportation District 11 deputy director.

Crews are expected to work on state Route 170 Monday through Friday for the next three weeks between 8:15 a.m. and 3 p.m.

No official detour will be posted.

Motorists should plan ahead to avoid delays.
