Warren citizens’ academy offers police training

Applications are being accepted for the next class of the Warren Police Department’s Citizens’ Police Awareness Academy Training that begins in February.
Residents can obtain an application from the city’s web site www.warren.org or by stopping at the Warren Police Department Records Room, 141 South Street, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The 8-week course includes an overview of police policies and procedures, tour of the county jail, police ride-along, training on use of deadly force in a shoot/don’t shoot simulation, remarks by city officials and county drug task force personnel and information on neighborhood watch groups. More than 300 city residents have been trained.
