GM takes two top awards at Detroit auto show
General Motors took home the awards for 2014 North American Car and Truck of the Year today, with the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and GM’s best-selling Silverado pickup taking the honors for best new vehicles at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
It was GM’s fourth win in the car department and the twelfth time GM won for trucks.
The winners were chosen by a panel of 48 automotive journalists from the United State and Canada, and they were judged on factors including innovation, comfort, design, safety, handling, and value for the dollar.
Other car finalists included the Cadillac CTS and Mazda3. Also in the running on the truck side were the Acura MDX and Jeep Cherokee.
To be considered, the vehicles had to be either all new or substantially changed.
