Investigation complete
WARREN
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation has completed its investigation into the Oct. 19 shooting death of TaeMarr Walker, 24, of Warren by a Warren police officer and turned a report over to the Trumbull County Prosecutor’s office.
Jill DelGreco, spokeswoman for the Ohio Attorney General’s office, said the report does not make any recommendations. “We just lay out what the facts are,” she said. “It will be up to the prosecutor to decide what to do.”
Walker was shot to death inside a car on Risher Road Southwest at 1:50 a.m. after Patrolman Mike Krafcik observed a car in which Walker and a female were riding crash into a ditch. Krafcik was with a tow-truck driver who was towing a car out of the opposite ditch when the Walker vehicle pulled up.
A 911 recording indicated that Krafcik told Walker and the female, “Put your hands up,” before Krafcik fired. Two weapons were recovered from Walker’s vehicle.
Trumbull GOP
HOWLAND
The Trumbull County Republican Party will have its monthly breakfast 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Perkins Restaurant, 1953 Niles Cortland Road, across from the entrance to Eastwood Mall. Topics for discussion will include the 2014 elections.
New traffic signals
WASHINGTONVILLE
New traffic signals at the intersection of state Route 14 and Washingtonville Road are now in flash mode.
They likely will be placed in a stop-and-go pattern Monday for 10 days to ensure that they are functioning properly and allow motorists time to adjust to them.
The signals were part of a $900,000 intersection improvement that began in July 2013 and included realignment of Washingtonville Road with South County Road and widening of Route 14 to include left-turn lanes.
New sidewalks also were constructed within the project. Ohio Department of Transportation’s contractor for the project is RT Vernal Paving Co. Inc. of North Lima.
