Soup drive to help feed Valley's needy

First Place Bank and Second Harvest Food Bank are collaborating on the second annual Become a Soup Bowl Star program, an effort to feed the hungry in the community.

Donations of canned soup may be dropped off at any First Place Bank from Monday through Jan. 31.

Bank employees will volunteer time at Second Harvest to box up the soup for distribution to 153 local food pantries.

After the holidays are over, donations to the food bank typically fall off dramatically, but the need does not.

During the soup drive last year, First Place collected 4,796 cans of soup.
