National Slovak Society members in Region 7, along with family and friends, gathered in December for the annual Christmas party at Holy Family Parish Hall in Poland. Lunch was provided as well as a cookie table.

The children made a Christmas ornament and sang Christmas carols while they waited for Santa’s arrival. When Santa arrived, he read a story about his reindeer while Mrs. Claus and the elves (Samantha Williams and Mikayla Hanley) helped check his list. 40 children received a gift from Santa. All the children brought gloves, hats, or socks to give to Santa for needy children on his list at the Mahoning Valley Rescue Mission.

Assembly 731 had a 50-50 raffle, earning a $60 donation that also went to the Mahoning Valley Rescue Mission to help provide Christmas gifts for families they serve.

Region 7 will have its annual meeting at 2 p.m. on Feb. 9, at Poland Christian Church on Struthers Road in Poland. Election of 2014 officers will take place, as well as election of Region delegates to the NSS 36th Quadrennial Convention this summer. Contact Laurie Fox, Region 7 Secretary, 330-536-8850 for additional information or directions to the Church hall.
