Columbiana County man dies in traffic accident

LISBON — Troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol Lisbon Post said a 54-year-old Hanoverton man was killed in a single-car accident about 7:10 a.m. today.

A news release from the post says George Chekan III, 54, was driving west on state Route 172 when the pickup he was driving left the side of the road, hit the end of a guardrail and went over an embankment before flipping over and coming to rest on its wheels.

Chekan was ejected was the vehicle. He was not wearing a seat belt, the release said.
