Police seized two 7.62mm assault weapons while answering a call for a domestic dispute.

Clemale Bills, 21, of Youngstown, is in the Mahoning County jail on charges of domestic violence, possession of dangerous drugs and being a felon in possession of a firearm after he was arrested at a 933 Campbell St. home on the South Side about 11:15 a.m. Wednesday.

Police were called to the home for a fight between a man and woman with weapons involved. When they got there, they found Bills outside a car in the driveway and had him get in a cruiser until they could sort the situation out.

A woman inside told police she and Bills had been arguing on the phone because he had stayed out all night, and she said she was taking her two children and leaving, reports said.

Before she could leave, the woman told police Bills showed up, grabbed her by the neck, ripped her coat and threw her down on the ground, reports said. Officers noted that she had scratches and a rug burn on her leg.

Police were going to tow the car and searched it before it was towed. They found the rifles, including one that was an SKS. Officers also found four banana-style magazines that are commonly used in the SKS, including two that were fully loaded.

Bills was searched, and police found eight pills on him as well as $775, which was taken as evidence. An additional $927 was found in Bills’ shoe when he was booked into the jail.

Bills is expected to be arraigned on the charges in municipal court today.
