POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Boardman Township:
Jan. 1
Theft: A man in a red jacket and stocking cap stole a $10 bottle of wine from Circle K, 7103 Lockwood Blvd.
Breaking and entering: Numerous cellphones were taken from a cabinet at a Verizon Wireless kiosk in the Southern Park Mall.
Domestic violence: Herbert H. Rabatin, 41, of Dobbins Road, Poland, was charged with the crime after a woman, of Boardman-Canfield Road, alleged Rabatin had become angered about relationship issues between them and twice slammed her head into a wall.
Theft: Devon M. Talley, 21, was picked up in Warren and charged after authorities alleged Talley, of Falls Avenue, Youngstown, had stolen four video games from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.
Theft: Police at the Mahoning County jail booked 25-year-old Brandon E. Mayhew of Weirton, W.Va., on a warrant related to a Dec. 2 shoplifting situation at Walmart in which several packages of electronics were stolen.
Domestic violence: Police charged Karthikeshwar Kasirajan of Mayfield Drive, Boardman, after his wife alleged the 46-year-old Kasirajan had become enraged before striking the accuser and pulling her hair. The victim suffered a cut lip and a swollen right eye; she also complained of back pain, a report showed.
Jan. 2
Bad check: A Fredericksburg Drive woman told police she received a $2,091 check returned on a frozen account that she had written to a roofing company to buy materials.
Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A man at a Market Street motel said his 2002 Oldsmobile vehicle had been taken without permission.
Menacing: A Wendy Lane man alleged a neighbor intentionally shined a flashlight several times through the accuser’s living-room window at night as part of a harassment pattern.
Assault: John R. Finley III, 54, was arrested at his Overhill Road residence on a warrant after a Boardman man reported having been struck several times during an altercation with Finley.
Domestic violence: Gregory A. Gisewhite, 30, of Prince Drive, Cortland, faced a charge after his girlfriend, of Boardman, alleged that during an argument, Gisewhite had slapped her, pulled her hair, choked the accuser and threw her against a wall. The victim had swelling and multiple bruises, police said.
Jan. 3
Theft: Erin R. Hallas, 31, of Melbourne Avenue, Boardman, was charged with theft; Robert E. Hallas, 30, same address, was charged with theft and possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia; and Tyler S. Pearce, 27, of Medina, faced one count of complicity to theft and two drug-related charges after roughly $90 worth of party supplies was stolen from Party Max, 445 Boardman-Poland Road. Found in their vehicle were two spoons with burn marks common in drug use, as well as six hypodermic needles, police said.
Theft: A woman stole a $20 high-speed transfer cable from Walmart.
Criminal damaging: Someone fired paintballs and damaged two garage doors as well as part of a residence in the 200 block of Reta Lane.
Identity theft: A Waseka Lane woman learned that her personal information had been used without authorization to open a cellphone account.
Attempted burglary: Someone tried to forcibly enter the living quarters at a Market Street motel.
Harassment: An Annawan Lane woman said her child’s father has sent her unwanted text messages.
Theft: A man about age 30 stole a $420 vacuum cleaner from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road.
Jan. 4
Arrest: A traffic stop near state Route 170 led to citations charging 32-year-old Craig D. Cole of Oxford Street, Campbell, with operating a vehicle impaired as well as possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Breaking and entering: A Realtor showing a vacant home in the 1400 block of Doncaster Drive noticed a rear door ajar, though it appeared nothing was missing.
Aggravated menacing: A supervisor with a Market Street car dealership told police of hearing secondhand threats to shoot his truck.
Theft: Two $140 sewing machines were stolen from Viking & White Sewing Gallery, 7386 Market St.
Misuse of a credit card: A Caribou Drive woman discovered her debit card had been used to rack up $1,974 worth of fraudulent charges that originated in Brampton, Ontario, Canada.
Harassment: A Market Street man told officers his former girlfriend has made more than 150 unwanted calls to him.
Theft: An Enon Valley, Pa., woman noticed her purse missing from a shopping cart while at a Doral Drive store.
Menacing: A Glenwood Avenue woman said a man threatened to harm her if she failed to pay him $800.
Attempted fraud: A Tamarisk Trail woman applying for jobs online reported having gotten an email instructing her to keep $300 of a $1,525 check she would receive and was to cash before responding with a money order.
Jan. 5
Theft: James J. Sheets, 27, of Midland Avenue, Youngstown, was charged with stealing from Walmart 30 items valued at $245.
Truck theft: A 2003 Isuzu truck was stolen at a Tiffany Boulevard motel.
Drugs: Police received a tip before taking 22-year-old Dana R. Carano into custody at a South Avenue motel. Carano, of East South Range Road, New Middletown, was wanted on a drug-abuse charge.
Theft: Austin M. Sudol, 18, of Homewood Avenue, and Gabriel J. Blankenship, 19, of Eighth Street, were issued summonses after a shoplifting situation at Walmart. The two Salem men were accused of stealing two 32-inch TVs, a smaller TV and a laptop computer.
Felonious assault: Authorities charged 20-year-old Daniecia D. Turner with one count each of felonious assault and domestic violence after a man alleged Turner, of Red Fox Drive, Boardman, had struck his face with a trophy, then chased him while carrying two small knives. The argument apparently started because their son was not wearing a coat, a report said.
Theft: A Youngstown woman reported her purse stolen while at a Boardman-Poland Road cafe.
Assault: Brooke M. Cina, 27, of Thornberry Trail, North Lima, faced a simple-assault charge after a woman alleged Cina had choked her, slammed her head against a wall and struck the accuser’s legs and arms during an argument at a Boardman-Poland Road restaurant.
Theft: A Youngstown man discovered a $500 guitar amplifier missing from the attic of his deceased father’s Erskine Avenue home.
Attempted breaking and entering: Someone pushed in a window frame in an effort to enter a room at Boardman Inn, 7109 Market St.
Theft: A woman reported her purse stolen while at a Doral Drive big-box store.
Theft: The rear license plate was removed from a car in the 4000 block of Sylvia Lane.
