Poland man admits sex crimes against minors
YOUNGSTOWN
An assistant county prosecutor is recommending a five-year prison term for a 47-year-old Poland man who pleaded guilty to gross sexual imposition against two minors and pandering obscenity involving those girls, one of them only 12 at the time of the crimes against her.
Thomas Wilson, of Youngstown-Pittsburgh Road, entered his plea Wednesday before Judge R. Scott Krichbaum of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.
Judge Krichbaum ordered Wilson jailed without bond pending sentencing at 11 a.m. March 19.
The Community Corrections Association will do a pre-sentence investigation.
The judge told Wilson he could sentence him to as much as 201/2 years in prison and fine him up to $45,000, if he were to impose maximum, consecutive sentences on the two counts each of gross sexual imposition and pandering obscenity involving a minor.
The offenses occurred between Nov. 22, 2012, and June 28, 2013, according to the indictment.
In the plea agreement, the assistant county prosecutor, Natasha K. Frenchko, dropped one count of gross sexual imposition contained in the indictment.
The bill of particulars detailing the charges says Wilson had the girls go to the basement of his home, put on a blindfold and stockings, and balance a guitar on their bodies while lying on a bed, as Wilson touched their feet and masturbated.
The pandering counts allege Wilson video-recorded these encounters.
The prosecution’s witness list contained the names of three Poland Township police officers, an Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation agent, two Mahoning County Children Services Board workers, the victims, and three members of the Mahoning Valley Law Enforcement Task Force, who could have been called to testify had there been a trial.
Wilson, who told the judge he has no prior criminal record, is represented by Atty. Kenneth J. Lewis of Cleveland.
Judge Krichbaum told Wilson he would be on parole for five years after he completes any prison term.
