Packard band plans first 2014 concert

The W.D. Packard Concert Band’s first concert of the year will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Packard Music Hall, 1703 Mahoning Ave. NW. Admission is free.
Guest conductor Robert D. Jorgensen, retired director of bands at the University of Akron, will lead a program that will include “A Trumpeter’s Lullaby,” featuring Jack Brndiar, cornet and trumpet soloist. Brndiar is the principal trumpet with the Cleveland Chamber Symphony.
