UPDATE | Fatal fire in Bristolville may be linked to space heaters

BRISTOLVILLE — The Bristol Township fire chief is reminding people to be careful with space heaters during winter after an early morning house fire killed an elderly woman.

Fire Chief Tom Dempsey said two electric space heaters were found in the small home, and it's possible something may have gotten too close to one of them.

Neighbors noticed the fire at 6:50 a.m. at 1838 Housel-Craft Road in Bristol Township and attempted to rescue the woman living there, but the fire was too intense and they could not get inside.

Firefighters found her dead while putting out the fire. Her name has not been released, pending notification of relatives.
